Nghiên cứu này khám phá mối quan hệ giữa các quy định đối với hoạt động ngân hàng (bank regulation) và mức độ chấp nhận rủi ro (risk-taking) của các ngân hàng. Sử dụng bộ dữ liệu các ngân hàng thuộc 19 quốc gia Châu Á trong giai đoạn 1996-2018, chúng tôi nhận thấy phần lớn các biến quy định có mối quan hệ cùng chiều với mức độ rủi ro của các ngân hàng trong mẫu quan sát. Điều này có nghĩa là, các quy định áp dụng cho hệ thống ngân hàng càng nghiêm ngặt, mức độ chấp nhận rủi ro càng cao. Ngoài ra, chúng tôi còn tìm thấy bằng chứng cho thấy rằng sở hữu nước ngoài làm giảm mức độ chấp nhận rủi ro, trong khi sở hữu nhà nước làm tăng mức độ này của các ngân hàng.
