Dựa trên khuôn khổ đường cong Kuznets môi trường (EKC), bài viết xem xét liệu quá trình chuyển dịch sang nền kinh tế dịch vụ có góp phần làm giảm lượng khí thải CO2 khi đạt đến một ngưỡng nhất định hay không. Dữ liệu bảng của 17 quốc gia đang phát triển Châu Á từ năm 1994 đến năm 2023 được sử dụng. Các kiểm định về tính không đồng nhất, sự phụ thuộc chéo, nghiệm đơn vị thế hệ thứ hai và phương pháp đồng liên kết Westerlund đều được thực hiện. Để xác thực các phát hiện, mô hình CCEMG (Common Correlated Effects Mean Group) và CS-ARDL (Cross-sectionally Autoregressive Distributed Lag) đã được sử dụng. Kết quả nghiên cứu cung cấp bằng chứng về mối liên hệ hình chữ U ngược giữa mở rộng ngành dịch vụ và phát thải CO2. Dựa trên những khám phá này, tác giả bài viết đã đưa ra những hàm ý liên quan để đạt được một môi trường bền vững ở các quốc gia đang phát triển của châu Á.
