Nghiên cứu này nhằm đánh giá mối liên hệ giữa phát triển công nghiệp với tính bền vững môi trường ở các nước ASEAN bằng việc sử dụng dữ liệu bảng trong giai đoạn 1995-2022. Các kiểm định đồng tích hợp để xác định mối quan hệ cân bằng dài hạn giữa các biến, kỹ thuật hồi quy nhóm trung bình gộp (ARDL-PMG) và kiểm tra nhân quả để xác định các tác động dài hạn và ngắn hạn được thực hiện. Kết quả ước tính chính cho thấy tồn tại mối quan hệ dài hạn và các tác động tiêu cực và tích cực. Giá trị gia tăng công nghiệp (IVA) làm giảm tính bền vững môi trường (LCF) và giá trị gia tăng công nghiệp trên mỗi lao động (IPW) làm tăng LCF. Ngoài ra, kiểm định nhân quả cho thấy mối quan hệ hai chiều giữa LCF và các biến giải thích. Dựa trên những kết quả này, tác giả đưa ra các hàm ý chính sách.
